Nikolai USHAKOV. Three cameramen. A book of 1930.
Russian and Ukrainian poet Nikolai Ushakov (1899–1973) wrote a book about Ukrainian cameramen: Alexei Kalyuzhny, Daniil Demutscky and Mikhail Kaufman. For a long time that book has been forgotten because it was written in Ukrainian. Or maybe the reason was one of the photographers – Alexei Kalyuzhny was repressioned in 1940. The gist of Ukrainian photography school phenomenon is successfully shown on example of three masters.

Evgenii Migunov is marvelous animator and litterateur. His memoirs could be a source of «Souzmultfilm» studio history. This part of his still unpublished completely memoirs tells about a few his famous colleagues.
ARCHIVES
First Russians color films (1931–1945). A filmography.
The work conditions of Soviet color film developers were very hard. They had no technique base, no community. Anyhow, in USSR during 1931–1945 period (before invention of three-layer color film) more than 70 color films were shot. The film list is just a step towards total and careful analysis of this thing. |
